So remember how I said I was feeling attacked by toe-up socks? I’m not anymore, but I’ve also decided to move back to top-down for the time being and revisit toe-up later.
I got a sock pattern that fit in circumference, by changing sock patterns to one that had a smaller size written into it. The foot was fine. The heel turn went off pretty well, but when I tried it on it didn’t really fit my foot.
I mean, it looks like a sock and fits the width of my foot and works mostly like a sock should, but it’s definitely too long.
Should I have started with a plain vanilla introduction to toe-up socks pattern that holds your hand through every step of the sock? Probably.
Do I have a bad habit of just jumping into the deep end of new techniques? Oh hell yes.
I mean, it wasn’t a total loss. I understand the basics of toe-up socks now, I’ve just yet to make any that fit my foot.
